TVの終焉

　今回の FCC の決定は "とうとうここまで来たのね〜" という感じです。　放送事業者の既得権である電波をぎりぎりまで少なくして残り全部をネットサービス向けに 「解放」するということのようで・・　STATEMENT OF CHAIRMAN KEVIN J. MARTIN (http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-286566A2.pdf) にも "してやったり！" という感じが下記の文章にも思いっきり奮ってますワ(^^)
Today’s approval of rules authorizing the use of television (TV) “white spaces” spectrum is a significant victory for consumers.
Today’s action was advocated by a diverse coalition of consumer groups, technology leaders and Internet pioneers. Opening the white spaces will allowfor the creation of a WiFi on steroids. It has the potential to improve wireless broadband connectivity and inspire an ever-widening array of new Internet based products and services for consumers. Consumers across the country will have access to devices and services that they may have only dreamed about before. I fully expect that everything from enhanced home broadband networks, to intelligent peer-to-peer devices, and even small communications networks will come into being in TV “white spaces.”
　私自身 Powerbook の前で過ごす時間のほうが長いし、家族もずいぶん TV を見なくなってきています。　＃土曜日のふしぎ発見とGAORAのテニスツアーLIVEくらいは見てます・・　けど、リアルタイムでTVの前ですごす時間 (かつてはそれを団欒なんて呼んでました？) は "それくらいで充分" です。　放送から流れくる情報の "ほとんどはリアルタイムで見るほどの価値は無い" ものだし、番組の "ほとんどは私たちの貴重な時間を無為に消費してしまう" ものだから。
　とはいえ、TV 向けに制作されたプログラムの中でも非常に価値のあるものもたくさんあると思います。　できればそれらを国民の財産として何時でも自由に視聴出来るように、来るべき (たぶん日本も早晩なるのでしょう) フレームワークの上で「解放」してほしいものです。　将来の子供たちに向けても、特に "受信料で制作されたNHKのプログラム" にはそうあるべき意味 (責務？) があると思います。
